The instant of greatest eclipse takes place on 2449 Nov 15 at 20:23:55 TD (20:07:41 UT1). This is 2.6 days after the Moon reaches apogee. During the eclipse, the Sun is in the constellation Libra. The synodic month in which the eclipse takes place has a Brown Lunation Number of 6517.
The eclipse belongs to Saros 140 and is number 53 of 71 eclipses in the series. All eclipses in this series occur at the Moons descending node. The Moon moves northward with respect to the node with each succeeding eclipse in the series and gamma increases.
The solar eclipse of 2449 Nov 15 is a relatively long annular eclipse with a duration at greatest eclipse of 07m35s. It has an eclipse magnitude of 0.9186. This annular eclipse is unsual in that it does NOT have a northern path limit. Instead, one edge of the antumbral shadow falls off into space throughout the eclipse. Gamma has a value of 0.9810.
